There are some bands in the world that cannot be said to be the creators of a genre of music as a whole, but their stage presence is so bright and dynamic that they will be remembered long after they are gone. The huge sounding arrangements with the crushing guitar tones are the insignia of the band.

Although they started way back in 94, their performances today are proof that they are unsurpassed in sound, spectacular concerts, music and every new generation is smitten by their strong presence in the music world.

Six musicians, still unknown to society and not suspecting the development of their musical success, gathered in 1994 in Berlin, Germany and started the futuristic musical fury – Rammstein.

Their vocalist Till Lindemann, lead guitarist Richard Kruspe, rhythm guitarist Paul Landers, bassist Oliver Riedel, drummer Christoph Schneider, and the keyboardist Christian “Flake” Lorenz are still together since the beginning.

The curious story of the rise of the band comes with their wish to win a contest with an  opportunity to record a four-track demo audiotape in a professional studio as a reward in Berlin back in 1994. For realizing the idea of music and band, Richard Z. Kruspe, their guitarist, recruited Schneider, Riedel and Lindemann and they all  entered and won that contest.

Impressed by the record Paul H. Landers and Christian “Flake” Lorenz joined in the band. Over the course of their music career they recorded eight studio albums, 32 singles, many music videos and hundreds of performed concerts all over the globe.

Their first album entitled Herzeleid was released in March 1995. It is the album which helped them to spread their popularity. They started touring across Europe later the same year. It wasn’t so long when they appeared on MTV’s Hanging Out in London, their first performance in the UK-right the next year. This fame brought them а recording deal for a famous US movie’s soundtrack and this was their breakthrough outside of Europe.

Rammstein’s second album, Sehnsucht, was released in August 1997. The compelling industrial metal (or also known as NDH, Neue Deutsche Härte – New German Hardness) combined with German lyrics gained enormous power and the band continued to spread their music message.

Mutter is called Rammstein’s third studio album. Here the eleven pieces of industrial tracks are proof of constantly evolving musical minds and we can hear a smooth transition between from electro heavy to more organic sound.

Later in 2004, Rammstein released Reise, Reise – their fourth album which characterizes with softer, warmer sound and music with more expressive elements, definitely a new feeling I haven’t heard before from the band.

Rosenrot – 2005 is the fifth album of Rammstein. Another great album that featured a great variety of songs that are powerful and inspiring.

Four years later the long awaited album – Liebe Ist Für Alle Da came to the passionate listeners. Unique songs and a whole lot of new sound that interweave an old Rammstein with something completely new.

The untitled seventh studio album of the band was released in 2019. This album wasn’t just music, it was art and emotion. The tracks are phenomenal and the beats and lyrics are splendorous.

Their latest album in 2022 is called Zeit and impresses with a set of songs that are dynamic, epic remembering riffs, rock steady drums and diverse vocals.

So much for the albums. Let’s pay attention to the source where the magic happens

Rammstein guitar tone with Amplifikation Rectifor Amp Simulator – Tone Recreation

Richard Z. Kruspe is always connected with the Mesa guitar amplifiers and his favorite one always comes to mind. The Rectifier. Dual in his early years and in some occasions the Triple Rectifier with Boogie 4X12 speaker cabinet.

One of the “secrets” for Rammstein’s guitar tone is, always record a minimum of  4 guitar tracks. Two on the  left and two on the right channel.  The second “secret” is: Play and record it tight!

The guitar chain is quite simple. An Amp, EQ and maybe some reverb mixed low for some ambience and cohesion of the whole mix!

We will build the tone in our Amplifikation 360 guitar suite, using our freshly released Amplifikation Rectifor amp sim. Especially the Type C amp, which without too much fideling is delivering the same brutal and solid tone for the track and the preset. You can use this tone in any project where a tight rhythm guitar tone is on demand.

Amplifikation Rectifor is inspired by the High Gain Mesa/Boogie* Guitar Amp It’s the fifth product on their range of Guitar Amp Simulator products which utilizes their 3rd generation of circuit modeling technology, proved to give a satisfying dynamic response from the amp tone generated. It’s also the first to implement Kuassa’s next-generation user interface. Streamlining the process of operating the plugin for users with a cleaner, sleeker interface.

Supports various audio plugins: VST/VST3/AU/AAX which are compatible with any kind of Digital Audio Workstation softwares. Standalone and Amplifikation 360 modules versions are also available.

The Amp: Rectifor Amp C – the 3th channel

The settings shown below are quite simple. The Amp itself sounds massive out of the box and it did not take too much time to tweak the setting and to be ready for the mix.

The Cabinet

The 4×12 Half Back with the timeless legend 57 matched the whole picture.

The Reverb

The reverb is added just to bring back some “life” in the signal chain and make it sound more natural. It’s just for ambience.

The EQ

The EQ cuts some of the low end 100 hz and the mids 800 hz to fit the guitar tone even further. You can always tweak it for your own arrangement and other instruments’ timbres.

Here is the full rig – preset in Amplifikation 360.

Here you can hear the tone. The guitar is an Ibanez RG320 with stock pickups.
